Some people are afraid of heights, others are afraid of spiders ...but for someone who loves traveling...I am afraid to drive on the freeway! Yes..I only know my work exit and my home exit, beyond that -- I am toast! Fortunate for me that I have a colleague who offered to drive towards the hotel as I will be having a heart attack figuring out which exit to take me to Princeton at night.
It took us a good 45 minutes from Newark to Princeton. I only had a small plate of spaghetti while baking APPLE CARROT MUFFIN in between a conference call and packing earlier in the day, so by the time it's 7pm..I was starving so badly. As we cruise along I-95, I was craving for a good steak and hoping beyond hope that my colleagues will not be too tired to eat. As we turn to US-1 -- my prayers were answered as we found Ruth's Chris at College Road before my rumbling tummy embarrass me again.
Yeah! This is my type of place - -cozy, elegant set up, soft music.....and 70% of the patrons tonight are wearing suits / dress ? Hmm...I should better keep my jacket on as I am only clad with a turtle neck and skinny jeans (Good thing I was wearing my heels).
Anyway, I asked Louis, our amiable waiter to send me a glass of Pinot Noir -Belle Glos (what? $17 per glass? do they place gold dust or what?) as I shared this juicy Sizzlin Blue crab cakes(composed of two jumbo lump crab cakes with sizzling lemon butter)- - now, we're talking!

The problem with too much list in the menu is I can't seem to focus -- I want salmon now ...but this is a steakhouse! So I tried the Petit Fillet ($38) and I am in Beef Heaven!!!! So moist and cooked to perfection. I will insult the chef if I asked for an au jus or a steak sauce but he knows his beef and his seasoning too well -- Kudos to him! Yum -- the mashed potatoes truly accentuates the taste!
I can go on and on talking about the steak - -but another surprise is this incredible Cheesecake! It's not in the menu but good thing we dared to try it --It appears that they may have mixed ricotta cheese with some secret ingredient as it's not sweet at all!
Luckily nobody ordered Grappa tonight! So decaf for everybody while I finished my forever-favorite creame brulee ! I may have gained 10 lbs eating all these food -- so worth it! I am sure my colleagues wanted to throw my camera away but just biting their tongue and thinking how pathetic I am - - duh--you don't have a blog -- hehehe who cares! If you are planning to go here sometime soon, plan for $80-$90 per head - - pricey but worth it!
So you think after the heavy meal --we'll all say goodnight? Not so fast - nightcap and more cocktails at the hotel lobby this time as we stare at the giant lion at the bar...
Anyway, after 7 hours of sleep, a 2 hour productive meeting and definitely more work as a result of brilliant ideas in our session today.... as I stand waiting for my flight back with a cup of grande mocha on my hand, an aching foot and a grumbling tummy again....see you again NJ sometime soon.....(Yes, my daughters will kill me as I didn't get their shirt)
